2019 Tuesday Text

Thought to share: Don’t waste your time and energy trying to fight your fears and tame your worries. You’ll never succeed. Instead, spend your efforts focusing on ME. Concentrate on MY faithful love, steadfast goodness and immeasurable strength. Zoom in on MY greatness and power. As you do, you’ll discover that MY Presence engulfs you and fills you everything you need.

Colossians 3:2 (NLT) Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Isaiah 12:2 (NLT) See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song;  he has given me victory.

tuesday text v1 3000x1704

Thought to share: why do you let the things of the world annoy you? Why do you let the drama of government or workplace politics suck you into its vortex? Why do you allow the behavior of people to push your buttons? Why do you allow society to consume you?Don’t waste your thoughts or energy. Instead, invest your attention in ME. Give ME all of your thoughts and I will help you sort through the barrage of things life is hurling at you. I will give you clarity and show you where to spend your emotions and energy – what to embrace and what to let go of. Together, we will journey into the center of peace and you will know rest.

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!

Psalm 20:7 (Amp) Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we will remember and trust in the name of the LORD our God. another way to say this is: some trust in (look to) the government or people to resolve the world’s problems, but we choose to trust in (look to) God because He is the answer. That’s a better way!

Hebrews 12:2 (TPT) We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection.

Matthew 11:28 (TPT) Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.

tuesday text v1 3000x1704

Thought to share: Let go of the chaos swirling around in your mind and let ME be the center of your thoughts. I know it’s difficult when so many questions need answers and dozens of problems need solutions. But, if you’ll intentionally place ME in the center of your thoughts, the chaos will subside and you can hear MY voice in the stillness. You will hear ME whisper words of encouragement and comfort as I assure you I have everything you need.

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You,  all whose thoughts are fixed on You!

Philippians 4:6-7 (TPT) Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.

tuesday-text-v2

Thought to share: Stop looking at what is wrong with the situation. Stop looking at the faults and shortcomings of people. I AM not asking you to live in denial, pretending that everything is perfect. I AM asking you not to make the wrong your focus. You can acknowledge the difficulty, pain, frustration, aggravation and disappointment – but don’t stay there. Give the wrong a brief glance, invite ME into that and then turn your attention to ME. Look at what I AM doing. Look at what I have given you. Look at how I have blessed you. Look at the beauty of the person, of your circumstances. It’s all there, if you choose to see it. Where you choose to focus your attention changes everything about where you are.
Philippians 4:6-8 (NLT)  Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Thought to share: what are you looking at? Where is your focus? If you give your attention to the negative, you’ll never see the positive. And there is positive in every situation, because I AM in every situation with you. So keep your eyes on ME and I will show you the good in your circumstances. I will draw your eyes to MY hand at work. I will shift your focus and enable you to see the blessings that surround you.

2Corinthians 4:18 (NLT) So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
Psalm 16:8 (NIV) I keep my eyes always on the LordWith Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

tuesday-text-v2

Thought to share: The world is shouting for your attention. It demands real estate in your mind. Don’t give it an inch. Give ME your attention. Let ME occupy your mind. And I’ll take care of the world.

Philippians 4:8 (NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
John 16:33 (NLT) I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

I’m throwing in the towel. (again)

A couple of years ago I wrote this post. And it’s still how I feel. So why don’t you join me? Go ahead and throw in the towel and see what Abba’s plans are for you this year. I’ve found it’s much better -and less stressful – this way!

I always have such high hopes this time of year. Regardless of what kind of year it has been, the next is always full of promise. It’s the fresh start I’ve been looking for. I can re-group, re-focus and start anew. I’m high on anticipation and expectation.

So I start to plan. I make lists of things I want to change in my life. I make lists of what I’d like to see happen in the coming year. I make lists of what I want to see Abba do. And I head off into the New Year with great enthusiasm.

But by February, the high is gone and my enthusiasm has waned. I’m now overwhelmed by disappointment and frustration. The changes I wanted seem impossible (what was I thinking?). The things I’d like to see happen aren’t anywhere in sight (people aren’t cooperating). And what I want to see God do……well, I can’t see anything for the discouragement and exhaustion.

What happened to my year full of promise? And why do I repeat this same scenario year after year only to be disappointed year after year? I usually end up throwing in the towel along with those lists. And try not to indulge in too much self-loathing as I ask myself: “Why can’t I do this? Why is this so hard?

But – one day I’m reading in Galatians and the light bulb comes on. Galatians 5:25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

I think I may have finally discovered my problem. There’s way too much of me involved. I’m being Kim led – not Spirit led. I’m the one calling all the shots; listing the changes I want, what I want to see happen and what I want to see Abba do. It’s my agenda and I’m leading the way. I’m taking charge.

I’m also the one trying to make it all happen. On my time-table of course. Always sooner rather than later.

No wonder I’m frustrated. And exhausted.

Why didn’t I see this before? How many times have I read Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”? How many times have I sung the sweet little Psalty song, “God Has A Plan For My Life” to my kids?

I don’t need to make any lists. I don’t need to set an agenda. I don’t need to make a plan.

All I need to do is let Holy Spirit lead me into Abba’s plan for my life.

So I’m not waiting until February. I’m throwing in the towel now. I quit writing list of what I want to see. Instead of setting my own agenda, for a change I’ve decided to ask Holy Spirit to lead me into Abba’s plan for this next year.

And because it’s His plan, I’m not in charge. I don’t have to figure anything out. I don’t have to organize or orchestrate. It’s His responsibility to implement and set the timetable. It’s His responsibility to power, fund and fuel His plan. It’s His responsibility to produce the changes He wants in me.

My part is to follow Holy Spirit, listen closely and then obey. That sounds a lot easier and a lot less stressful.

So this year, I sit down with pen and paper to listen. I will write down only what He whispers into my heart. And that will be my focus for this new year.
